Learning to Build With AI
The questions I bring to a new tool
My background is in banking, financial management, teaching and business. Those experiences shape the questions I bring to artificial intelligence.
Can this help me explain an idea more clearly? Can it help me organize a task? Can I use it to build something useful?
I now build software with AI assistance. That work has given me another reason to keep learning—and plenty of reasons to check the results carefully.
For someone beginning today, I would suggest choosing one small task. Ask an AI assistant to draft an appointment reminder using fictional details. Read the result. Correct it. Decide whether it says what you intended.
That simple exercise introduces a useful habit: stay involved in the work.
The same attention matters when the task becomes more complicated. A fluent answer can contain mistakes. An impressive demonstration still needs testing. Private information requires care.
In From Rural Haiti to AI, I connect my personal journey with an accessible introduction to these tools. I want readers to have both the story behind my interest and a practical starting point for exploring their own.
My journey began in Gaspard. Learning to work with AI is another chapter in it, and I am still learning.
What useful task would you like to try with AI?
